That's odd, I got this..

Results 1 - 10 of about 116,000 for ballistic amplifier. (0.31 seconds)

If you put quotes around the words ("ballistic amplifier"), you get:

Results 1 - 10 of about 70 for "ballistic amplifier". (0.27 seconds)

It'll take only a few minutes to go through all of them.

The longbow is a ballistic amplifier...

The relatively short travel of the bow tips is amplified by the geometry of the bow and it's string to give a longer travel at a lower force...this enables the propulsion of the arrow a ballistic (nearly) projectile.
