Electron or Something New

05/09/2008 1:50 AM

I think most of us know that now a days Scientists are trying to find out something other than electron that will increase the working speed of electronic gadgets, accessories & also put impact on other performance parameters. Since long students & hobbyists are innovating & developing electronic projects, for this one reason is that the small electronic components can be handled manually. But now nano technology & other techniques are under usage. Can you tell me, how hobbyists can use these technology in their innovations?

Hello Deepti Saini

The days of the individual researcher, working from a home workshop, discovering anything really new and useful, appear to be almost over.

As far as Nanotechnology and articles made using that technique, we probably are all using things made with that process.

Because Nanotechnology is on the verge of working at the atomic level, special equipment and factories are needed to make anything useful by that method.

So...the trickle-down effect works, and "little-by-little", we shall see more Nano-technologically produced articles in everyday life.

If you want to be kept up-to-date, go to: http://nanotechweb.org/cws/home and get yourself a free subscription.

As an example, we are still getting common and material benefits from "The Space Race" scientific advances.

Kind Regards....

I must say I most disagree with you! I found doodle-particle. Most small. Carry charge of many electron and proton at same time!!! Look like Lithium atom but use many nanoparticle 3-times King's Emperor many happinesses!!!

Yeh, of course. I do make projects but don't add any project to it. Because as a hobbyist I make certain Electronics & Communication projects, and others that I feel, should be made.

Spintronic devices - which use the spin of electrons rather than their charge are available to hobbyists. NVE makes current sensors and isolators which sell for ~$3 each.

Of course, we really know that electrons don't spin - don't we?

spin? I dunno. maybe they 'breathe' - as they pass by, expanding and contracting, they would still BE particles, but have the APPEARANCE of waves.

I'm referring to the quantum spin state, of course.

All I'm saying is they call it "spin," but they don't REALLY spin.

Because the people who make their livings messing with them in labs and stuff have known this for a long time. They came up with the word spin because it seemed to fit, jut like they came up with the word "orbital," which is also false.

Further examples are - charm, strangeness, color, flavor, etc...

I think I got the solution via your comments & news in todays newspaper "Times of India". Now instead of Silicon-based transistors a student has invented a GaN based transistor which proves to be a boom in Electronics so its a huge welcome for the Electronic Project developers or hobbyists.
