Boiler for Coal Liquid and Modification needed

05/16/2008 1:09 AM

Good Day...

Sorry for asking this question coz I really dont know but anxious to know.

You see My company is produced Coal to Liquid its calorific value is much better that Coal Water slurry nor Coil oil Mixture. The calorific value is 6876 Kcal / Kg.

I want to use this product on Boiler.

Could anyone give me the information where can I found this Boiler , How the system works ?

If I want to say...modified previous boiler ( used High speed diesel or Marine diesel Fuel ) to Boiler that used Coal to Liquid , Whats part should I change ? the burner? the Slurry Pump , The Tank with agitator ?

Please kindly help me if anyone of you alraedy had experience in this subject

Regards

Jacob

Dear Sparkie..Like you had mention ..I am from Planet of Oz.

Recently I had done some experiment so that I got Liquid from Coal without any Clay.

Here a little description :

I crushed Coal ( Bituminous ) into Coal Powder size 200-300 Mesh

then I mix this Coal Powder with Water and acid Derivative.

I placed them in Cooper Tubing. Through some Heating then Condensating process then I got Liquid. I dont know what this Liquid Coal..uts depend on Temperature and Pressure u used in Heating Process. I called this Liquid as Methana?

Then I Mix this Methana? with Methoxide.

then Oalah.. I got this Fuel ..( High calorific value , High Peak Temperature and Low Flash Point ).

I want to test this Fuel through Gasification Process like Bunzen Burner Perhaps..

But My Previous Products are Coal Liquid ( much clay on it )

I want my Coal Liquid tobe tested in Boiler.. I want to built Demo Unit..thats Why I am asking in this forum about the Boiler and what parts Should I change to Modified Boiler

Thanks

Before talking to boiler people, talk to industrial burner folk. These be the chappies that make the fire the boiler folk use to heat the stuff in the boiler.

The burner folk will ask what kind of flame your liquid can make, how to pump it, what size nozzle, what pressure, etc. If you do not know they can help you find out how to set up liquid to burn in their gun and then you can sell to the boiler folk, who will sell to the people who need boiler heat.

Test in pressure burner first, then in boiler.

There are two possibilities for "coal-to-liquid" processes. One is the creation of a liquid from coal. The other is the fluidisation of finely-pulverised coal so that it behaves in many respects as a liquid for the purposes of burner selection.

A fuel with a higher calorific value will require less of it to carry out a particular heating duty, in general terms.

Many boilers are designed to operate on only a narrow range of fuels, and it is largely a question of fuel supply method and equipment, burner selection, firebox shape and the draughting arrangements that will determine compatibility. The density, viscosity and surface tension of the liquid fuels also have an effect; it is no good putting heavy fuel oil into a boiler burner that is sized and designed to run on kerosene, for example, 'coz it won't burn without serious modification to burners and fuel supply arrangements.

Try contacting a number of boiler manufacturers, or possibly access their websites, as a next step in this learning.
