Analog modules

I checked with Keyence to see about the KV-AN6 Digital to Analog Modules, and the next thing you know, I got a call from a field sales representative who assured me that such modules are still available. Send me an email, and I'll give you his name and some phone numbers.

Keyence KV-AN6

08/15/2006 3:18 PM

Well, the guy, who called me after finding out that I visited their website assured me that the KV-AN6 was still available and would call back with a price, never called back, but he did get four of the same Keyence catalogs mailed to me forthwith. Want one? The KV-AN6 is not listed.

Our group used to custom make such things when they either became "no longer available," such as the KV-AN6, or never existed in the first place. The only bugger is getting the bus (backplane connector) specifications from manufacturers or figuring it out on our own. If one is available, reverse engineering is usually fairly simple. If not, the guts of something like a D/A plug-in module generally are relatively simple. Timing of latching and reading are done by the main processor and as long as the D/A converter is fast enough, everything ought to be OK.
