TOC online Monitoring

Does it crucial to install TOC online monitoring in DI water system if the system was completely equipped with carbon filter, ion exchange filter, RO system, degasifier and also ultra violet sterilizer? is it enough for us to check the resisitivity only? our DI water was used for semi-conductor industry. we used to do monthly analysis for TOC right now and from our previous record, there were no problem regarding the TOC content.

Actually, an on-line TOC monitoring system is only necessary if the process requires a specific maximum TOC level so that you can be alerted if it exceeds specifications; if not, it's not really necessary, just helpful. However, if you decide to do away with the on-line monitoring, then ensure that your UV-TOC lamps are not replaced within the manufacturer's specified life span, otherwise you may exceed specifications without being aware of it.

thank for the explaination. actually our specific limit for TOC must be <=500ppb. we do monthly analysis for TOC and the reading was below the limit. never exceed the limit. we change the UV-lamp properly, followed the instruction from our supplier. so, does the specific limit so critical until we need to install the TOC monitoring system? we want to avoid the investment for the system since it is expensive.
