taper calculation

what is the formula to find out the tapper angle in a conventional lathe machine?

"Formula"?

One familiar old lathe machine in particular has an adjustable turret that can be set to whatever angle the operative chooses to suit the job to hand.

You could just bore a hole, (not drill) use a single point boreing bar.

then measure the diameter at the top, the diameter at the bottom and then measure the length of the hole.

there you go...

Dear Friend,

It should be Tan Alpha = (D-d)/2 devided by L

(OR)

Tan Alpha = (R-r)/2
