Video Camera Output Display

05/31/2008 7:39 PM

I know that this will likely be answered by a sorry, can't be done, but I'll ask it anyway.

Is there any way or device that would allow the playback output from my panasonic digital video camera to be simply connected, for display, through my LCD monitor digital input port?

I have video editing software and all, but I'd like to cut the computer out of the loop for simple playback on something larger than the cameras LCD, without using a TV.

What you need is a video monitor.

Or a video scaler. They convert composite video to higher definition RGBHV (so called VGA) signals. Cheap ones cost around 35 UK pounds. Some cheap converter can do quite a good job, whereas cheap down converters are usually rubbish as it is much harder to down covert well than to up convert.

Most cameras have a video out port, probably has to be matched to the manufacturer of the camera. usually it can be connected to most monitors to the RCA type inputs or via S-Video port.

The answer could be yes if your LCD monitor has the ability to act as a PC/video monitor and your user manual will tell you the answer if you no longer have go to the manufactures web site an look up your models specs.

good luck

My Panasonic can be connected to a TV if you use an optional AV lead, does your monitor have the phono inputs required?

Camera is a Lumix DMC-TZ3. The diagram shows & TV & I was asking N&P if his monitor had similar inputs.

Thanks for everyone's input. My camera is a Panasonic CCD3 non-HD model with normal video output (S-Video and composite video {red, white, yellow}). The monitor that I had handy was a Samsung SyncMaster 213T with just the normal analog and digital connectors.

I don't happen to have any LCD type TVs, just CRTs, and I was looking for something that I could take remote from my house, without a hernia, to show videos of their technique to dragon boat team members.

I stopped by a store and noticed a number of TV's in the 19 to 22 inch screen size that looked more luggable, with a multitude of input options. Might have to address that soon in any case. That way I could leave my computer monitors where they belong.

Additionally there is the video editor conversion to AVI, etc. But it doesn't look as good to me as the native NTSC to TV version.

That monitor hasnt got interface to match your vedio camera.

you can buy a converter on the market to adopt betweent them.

you also build one for yourself. careful to link wires from s terminal to relative terminal wire lead from D-sub port.

why dont use TV set or compujter?

Invite the dragon boat crew to your house, tell them to bring beer.

Definitely the best suggestion to date from my perspective. Corralling them can be a little like herding cats.
