I don't think you can answer that without some weighting information. For example, Nuclear looks pretty good but the uranium reserves are located outside the US for the most part. Coal looks good but is very dirty at the moment. Wind power looks good but has siting and reliability problems. Solar looks good but has huge cost problems. And so on.

The best alternative for me has been my hydrogen powered sports car...
When I take it for a spin it charges up the batteries as well as driving the wheels, so when I get home I've got fully charged batteries to produce the next days supply of hydrogen.
Its great, I never have to pay a bean!! in fact I have some hydrogen left over from the process to heat my house...
I did try to patent this great scientific invention of mine but some big company came along and offered me MILLIONS to keep it quiet so I took the money....

Sensing the issue of pet/cng/lpg and biofuel, i suggests the best way to cater most of the issues with solar and WPT technologies. Man on this soil hasnt succeded yet to change or alter natural resources like this
