Calculating Cable Size When Amps are Known

Is there any thumb rule for selecting Size of cable if ampere is known

For a 3 core & 4 core unarmed & armed cable?

Rule of thmb? The Wiring Regulations published by the IEE give calculation algorithms.

good morning...

now we have 400 amp supply...so what is the size of the cabel we need to use..

and we need to use 4 core.
