Help about Microsoft Outlook

06/07/2008 6:08 AM

I have my mail account in a PC having software Microsoft Outlook. I have created a back up in another PC and copy all the mails after one month and paste in PC having back up for updating it. Is it possible that I copy the mails daily from master PC (having account) as "Outlook Message Format" and paste it in back up PC instead of copying all the mails after a month?

Why wouldn't you? Of course, I'm sure it takes a bit of time.

I want to copy the mail from master PC and paste it in slave PC (having back up) in such a way when I open the Outlook and check its INBOX/SENT ITEMS, I would find that mail in it. Copying the mail as "Outlook Message format" from master PC and pasting it in slave PC at any where is not a problem.

Sure you can...I prefer to have my machines do the work though.

If both PC's are connected to the internet so that you can download mail from both, then set one machine so that it leaves a copy of the messages on the server Tools/Options/Email Accounts/Internet Email Settings/Advanced Tab - there is a box that says "Leave a copy of the message on the server".

Alternatively, Microsoft offers a backup add-in for outlook that you can set to back up your Outlook data files to a network connected machine or disk.

Good Luck

Is the other computer connected to the master pc over a network or are you transferring data from the master pc via sneakernet (floppy, usb, etc.)

Can't you just set Microsoft to automatically forward a copy of all mails received to your other PC?

Well yes or you could set MS Outlook to archive files more than 30 days old and then back up the archived files to an external HD.
