I am in the process of developing new musical instrument string technologies and have made some headway. Just curious if anyone else around has expertise on potential new uses of ferrous alloys.

Elixir

For acoustic guitars I really like the Elixir Nanoweb brand. They coat the string with something called Mierom.

They last a long time and sound very good. I don't know what technology you have, but check these out. I like them because they retain their tonal qualities longer than uncoated strings.

I have a question.

In a similar vein, have all the musical instruments been invented? Aside from electronic effects, emulations and synthesis, when was the last actual musical instrument invented. It is just something that has puzzled me. I say let's invent something new, not just electronic but a new instrument!

Strings

In the manufacture of the string, have you looked at using the tachnology of braiding? There may be some things you can do with it that aren't capable of being done with either solid or twisted strand strings. If you need further assistance contact info@steegerusa.com. They have the capabilities of working with all types of wire (ferrous and non-ferrous)and polymers down to Ø0.0005" (12.5 micron).

Re:Strings and Iron

India has 1/4th of the world Iron Ore store so if you wish to take few containers to generate music in our world then I will not mind.

Most interesting thing will be unbreakable string and perhaps of Carbon fiber or Carbon nano-tubes?
