HRSG Scanner Failure

06/17/2008 11:37 AM

WE HAVE 05 NOS. OF BHEL MAKE Heat recovery steam generator. Since last 2 years we have problem of Scanner failure/ damaged. We also faced problem coke dust carry over and disturbe scanner view and flame failure. Coke fourmulation near to scanner tip also one of major issue. What are the probable reason for above problem ?

(1) Scanner failure/damage

(2) Coke formulation on tip of scanner

(3) Dust carry over.

We have scanner cooling air fan which supplied cooling air to scanner with a pressre of @300mmwc. We have 'ICAN' make scanner. Air pressure is sufficent to cool the scanner or not ?

1)scanner cannot withstand very hot area. Try putting the scanner away from the area.make the sight tube longer.

2) poor cooling air/purge air. Make sure that the line is not choked/leak. Make sure the cooling line is properly fitted 45deg C at the sight tube.

3)check with OEM. ICAN scanners? or you mean ISCAN scanners? they can provide cooling jacket or shroud that can work fine with low pressure air
