A croppign wheel is cutting flat steel bar 50mm wide by 25mm thick: the work required to crop each piece of bar is 7500J. The flywheel has a radius of gyration 950mm, has a speed of 140 rev min-1 at the start of each cut. Assuming the energy for cutting is entirely supplied by the flywheel and that its speed is reduced by 15% during cutting, determine:
a) The mass of the flywheel
b) The torque that must be applied to the flywheel so that is regains its full speed in 3 seconds
Please can someone provide me with equations, help guidance. Thanks!
