Looking for small air/fluid manifold...

06/21/2008 2:29 PM

I've looked in vain, internet/aquarium supply, for a small manifold I would like to carry fluids (see diagram below). It would be best to see if there is something off-the-shelf rather than a custom mold due to cost$.

Size is not critical, but it can't be too much bigger. Most important, the ports should be about 3mm inside diameter.

Any ideas where to find such a componant?

Blimey, I suppose it depends on the quantity, but for my instruments over the years I've used square aluminium bar abou 10 mm x 10mm and drilled through from end to end and then tapped holes M5 to fit barbed, pneumatic, 10-32 threaded hose-tails into the body to make my own manifolds as I want them...

No problems at all !!!

John.

We make our own for 1/8 air fittings out of steel or stainless square tubing,(1/2,3/4,or1 inch). weld the ends shut and then drill and tap for the fittings. If the fittings are stainles as well then we'll often weld those too.

Hi,

Clippard Minimatic has been a good source for me for lots of projects, at least for 'a few of a kind' projects for factory jigs, fixtures, and mechanisms.

http://www.clippard.com/

I didn't search for you, but you can probably find what you are looking for there.

If you are looking for something in a larger (mass production) quantity, send me a message and maybe there is something I can do ... maybe not, but it never hurts to take a look.

Best regards,

You said that you had visited aquarium suppliers and looked.

Maybe if you look in hydroponic suppliers, it looks similar to what would be used to multi split a nutrient line.

SMC Corporation makes compact manifolds with an integral one-touch fitting. The typical manifold will handle 6, 8 or 10mm tubing (O.D.). Depending on the type of fluid and the tubing used, this may work.

SMC also manufactures one-touch fittings in Double Universal Male Elbows (KQ2VD), Triple Universal Male Elbows (KQ2VT) and Double Branch Universal Male Elbows (KQ2ZD).

You may find more information on the KRM manifolds and the KQ2 fittings at www.smcetech.com. Or, you may contact the SMC Rep or distributor in your area.
