Solar panels

In India you can get them from BEL Bangalore. High efficiency panels are for space applications and are not available in India.

the best and most reliable depends somewhat in the application. Land, marine, connected to the grid, making hot water for your swimming pool. What is your application?

Use of solar panels in India was uneconomic for domestic use and industrial use. 1kW power requires solar panel of cost US$2000-4000 range and lots of equipments such as battery, DC to AC voltage inverter etc.

I find these OK some applications such as street light, power in the forest etc.

Good News

09/01/2006 9:33 AM

The good news Mahendra P. is that each passing year the situation gets better and better for Solar Power. Fuel prices are rising and 'Vivasvan'(The sun deities name) still offers his sunlight for free. At the same time solar panels are cheaper each year as the supply and demand forces kick in. I assume this installation is to replace generated power, not utility mains.(far cheaper and reliable as yet, power cuts excepted). There may even be a Government subsidy available? (press for one if not) "from little acorns, mighty oaks do grow" research your subject thouroughly. Who knows, in five years time you might have formed a co-operative small utility. Start small and build on experience (yours and those before you)
