Superbike in the making

06/23/2008 2:47 PM

Needed engineers or mechanics interested in making something different from the norm.

Hi everyone,

Im not an engineer of any kind but I do have a keen interest in many areas of engineering.

Im more of an idea girl, I have so many inventions & Ideas that I really want to get started with.

Theres one idea that I have been researching for around two years now, and I am basically looking for someone who wants to get involved in all this, as a partner.

Now, i have the concept, some sketches, details and an almost complete inventory of specs & parts needed.

And thats all I have, I cant move on to the next step without an engineer who is willing to take the time, energy and half the costs ( unless a sponsor is found) of building a prototype for this vihicle.

Electrical engineers and engineers dealing with new technology would be better suited for this project.

I really cant go into details on the board but I promise this motorcycle type vehicle will be something clean and different.

If anyone is interested or can advise me on what is the best way to go with my plans please post your ideas.

Where on this little planet are you? it might help to get local help.

So, you don't want any electronic engineers then

John

Hi, Im not really limiting this to just electrical engineers, anyone who thinks they can make this happen is welcome.

Well im not in the US, which could be a problem for some people.

Im from Cyprus, we are in the EU (yay) lol.

But distance shouldnt be a problem nowadays.

Well I've worked on automotive problems before now and I used to be a motobike rider and spent many weekends trails riding and tinkering / tuning my motorbike

That sounds good,

This idea I have, I want someone who understands electric engines and other wiring that might have to power certain parts of the bike.

Have you looked at the recent developments in "electric motor scooters", "electric motorbikes" and "electric motorcycles" on the internet? This may give you some more ideas, or you may find that your idea has already been built.

Try googling the above key words and looking at sites such as

http://www.gizmag.com/

I always find that a very strong foundation of knowledge of what has been done or is being developed can save a lot of time and help push existing developments into different directions with new ideas.

HI Dear,

I am Vinayak, and a Mech. Engg., It seems that you have worked on the project but not in details and the communication made are not to the specific requirement; go through the following requirements so that you will be able to get more details and then start the project,

Parts & their requirements:

1. Single phase AC Motor - High Torque, low speed and sustain load of 250 - 300Kgs.

2. Motor drive to control the speed and direction.

3. Alternator - to convert DC to AC supply.

4. Battery - To work at temp upto 150 Deg. Centigrade, continuous supply upto 4-Hrs. without recharging (Need to work on this more special case).

5. Solar pannel on the to surface of the vehicle in case of emergency and as a backup source.

6. Programmable logic control - to control the vehicle as per the operator's demand.

7. Generator attached to the drive motor - to generate electric supply and charge the batteries online.

8. A chassie able to carry the load (Weight of about 450Kgs.)

These are few of the requirements which are essentiacl for electric vehicle, I am also working on the same project but am located in INDIA, and waiting for a sponserer.

But the above information can help you in your project. You can write me mail on following mail ID - ving_h2@rediffmail.com

Regards,

Vinayak.

Single phase AC motors are not suitable for this application as they offer low starting torque. Use a three phase or a brushless DC motor with suitable drive.

Good luck.

How about this guys? Its an fuel cell bike engine! Looks compact and can run continuously for four hours before the fuel cell needs recharging. It also reaches a speed over 50mph (80km/h), a range of at least 100 miles (160km). theres so many new engines like this out there.

Whats the weight, cost, output, fuel, dimensions.....?

My dream would be a mountainbike with a motor, around 40-50kg, 10kw, 300-400mm suspension.....

I found this on the website

The 80 kg ENV was designed to be used in both urban and off-road environments, sufficient clearance for use as a silent trailbike -- hunters and outdoor enthusiasts take note.

There is more detail here:

http://www.evworld.com/article.cfm?archive=1&storyid=832&first=2978&end=2977

I think this is a good start. But the next generation of such engines will be what Ill need for my "motorcycle".

Those have been kicking around a few years, never heard or saw any that actually made it to production.

The weight is still too high.

Hi, I just viewed an electric trail bike that competed with a 250cc gas bike. Very close on the events except the mountain trail course. The electric bike passed and left the gas bike in the dust. Sorry I don't recall the program in the USA, a green product channel. Very light, very fast and quiet. Good luck!!
