Retapping on Powder Coated Components

06/27/2008 12:12 AM

Is there any process to eliminate tapping after powder coating,as no. of holes in the components are high.

presently we use bolts to cover the holes, it consumes more time.

Pls suggest

Jina

Maybe a light oil that would melt during baking?

Sir,

Oil cant be applied because the process goes into a temp of 200 deg. where it gets melted.

Oil is a painter's enemy.

Threading a bolt in the hole or using a plug is the best route that I know of. It takes less time to put a bolt in the hole, then it does to re-tap the holes.

And save the same bolts for the next time.

The plugs are the only way to go. They are fast. Just stuff them in. Reusable so cost effective as well.

The only problem is NOT MISSING ANY HOLES!

Cause just one totally screws the whole process up. and you more then likely wont find it until you go to assembly.

We always used the plugs for holes Sleeves for standoffs

Good luck!
