Boatowner

06/29/2008 6:03 PM

The common snap fasteners used to attach a canvas cover to any object, like a boat, is very dificult to line up and snap closed, particularly for the elderly or arthritic.

What product is available as an effective, replaceable alternative?

Those snap fasteners wear out and get rusty after time. You can buy a kit to replace them, as needed. However, canvas shrinks over time, from exposure to the elements, ( probably the worst being UV, ). So, sooner or later, you have to replace it. Perhaps a top made from modern materials would last much longer. Google "boat parts", and see if there is a pre-made cover for your model. If not, go to a boat show. There will be company's there that can custom make one for you.
