This seems like a rather basic question for an electrical engineer to be asking. Perhaps it is also because it is rather ambiguous. What do you mean by conditions?

One of the two sources must be the interface controller.

The second is that both should be capable of listening.

Have a look at the GPIB interface (General Purpose Interface Bus) or its predecessor HPIB.

Thanks Hendrik,

I learned a little today. In my uneducated state I thought Electrical Engineering was separate from Electronics Engineering. I thought the question refered to parallel conections on batery systems.

Hi Shadetree

Reading the question again in daylight made me rethink my assumption.

It do relate to electric and not electronic.

Only last week I was playing with an old plotter with a HPIB parallel interface and my mind clicked onto this idea. (The condition of the caps (1985) were also bad).

hi,

the most necessary condition for the paralled conditions are

1) same phase sequence

2) same frequency

3) same voltage rating

4) same voltage vector if both of the sources are fed from transformer

even though they must be protected through bus coupler protection or bus differentioal protectio shceme

Divyesh, how about amp rating? It seems to my memory that parallell conductors must also be of the same amp rating (size matters), and have a slot cut in the panel between conduits if separated.
