I want to know the differance between PLC and DCS systems in gas distribution network specialy for Natural Gas Pressure Reduction Stations?

I Googlied: "PLC and DCS" and this is what I found:

To me, if it's a gas distrubution network, I would guess you would want a more 'smarter' system than a fairly limited PLC system and therefore you would want a DCS. The article talks a bit more about them.
