Copper vs aluminum wiring

07/16/2008 1:00 PM

Is aluminum wiring for power distribution (e.g. between 400A/480V buss plug and PDU 250 feet away) considered acceptable in a datacenter environment?

Check you local codes.

I can't remember the last time I saw a post here where the location was disclosed.

Codes vary. In the US we have something known as the "National Electric Code".

Of course, local codes also apply. These may be more stringent.

Sorry. New to forum. Kansas City, MO is location. Looking more for overall opinions assuming codes approve it. Just looking for alternatives to copper due to cost.
