What is the permitted vibration level of diesel generators? What is the unit? Which instrument is used to measure it?

On the engine 0.5 in/sec rms or 12.5 mm/sec rms. On the generator itself , 0.3 in/sec or 8mm/sec rms is the rule of thumb I use. There are ISO standards for gensets.

Measure with an accelerometer type of tool.

Are you experiencing excessive transmitted vibration?

In 'days of Old' i can recall motors tagged "special balance"

Good isolation can reduce transmission of 'vibes' to the outside world.
