i am an instrumentation eng. and doing job in process automation.i want to learn plc programing in depth tell me a name of book which will help me to gain knowledge about plc prog.
Taking a course in PLC programming at local technical college (Night School) (if your in the U.S.), Practical experience of programing has more value and you pick up the text easier and quicker.

I gather from reading the post by Guest that his/ her first language is not English therefore I think that you should allow certain mistakes to be made.
If I was in your position then I would select a PLC that is currently in your process and get all the information on that one and start from there. Of course all the online courses will help and so will all the books but if you really want to master this aspect then I would strongly suggest that you combine alot of practical with the theory.
Start at the basics (if you do not know them) and work your way up from there. Get a PLC and wire it up (please don't electrocute yourself or anyone else), connect input and output modules and hopefully you will make some mistakes and be able to rectify them. You will learn alot from troubleshooting issues and it will also give you more confidence when a production line is down or you are asked to program/ design something in the future - don't worry about making mistakes, only worry if you keep making the same mistake over and over again !!!
You will find plenty of help from the specific PLC manufactures in their online help and you will, in general, be able to bring the things you learned over from one PLC type to another.
Best of luck with this and I am sure you will enjoy the experience.
