High Voltage Bushings

08/18/2008 11:07 PM

Hello,

I am quoting the refurbishing of a 20 MW power autotransformer. Among other accesories, I have to quote three 115 KV, and four 13.8 KV bushings, I am having hard time getting prices for those components.

Could anyone give me a hint, or data of who I could write to, asking for the prices, in order to quote?

I work in a small company in México that deals with refurbishing of distribution transformers mainly.

Thanks for your support, and your time.

Genaro.

Hello Genaro

You need to contact the original maker of the transformer/s.

They will have the correct bushings, ready to fit perfectly.

The advantage of using the original maker's bushings, is that you know at the time of ordering, that they will fit when they arrive.

You need to advise the Transformer Maker, with the actual Transformer details per the unit nameplate, including the actual Serial Number etc.

Advise further, if you need, with

Kind Regards....

For budgetary or quoting purposes you can probably obtain prices of new transformer bushings from Pcore Electric Company in Leroy, NY USA. Pcore is the former Lapp bushing business that is now owned by Hubbell Power Systems. See www.pcoreelectric.com.

Sparkstation is correct. The rebuilt transformer will require the same geometry and electrical and mechanical properties and features as the original bushings (oil level below flange, current rating, draw lead or fixed conductor connection, etc.).

Nice meeting you both, eventhough by this electronic way.

I've had very good experience with ABB in Alamo, Tennessee, the former Westinghouse bushing division. Their website has several interactive tools where you can cross-reference the existing bushing style from various manufacturers to current ABB replacements, or search by dimensions. They also have sales contacts for various countries. In Mexico, the contact is:

Name Juan Santana Phone +1 731-696-5257 Fax +1 731-696-5376 Details ABB Inc. Marketing & Sales
