Marine Engine and Gearbox

08/20/2008 8:15 AM

what are the points to be considered for matching a new marine type reduction gearbox with an existing marine propulsion engine? can we fit a 950 H.P. reduction gearbox with a 1050 H.P. marine propulsion engine?

Yes, provided some compromise on the longevity of the mechanisms can be tolerated while 1050hp is being withstood. Would early catastropic self-disassembly cause problems?
