Safety Valve Setting

08/26/2008 12:56 AM

Hello Frnds,

We are having a pressurised feed (Crude Oil) tank with design pressure of 10"WC TO -2 "Wc with safety valve mounted on top of it with set value of 8 " WC & -1 " WC

I want to know how PZV will Work/Logic on the negative side.

Regards

Jose

It can be expected to operate at -1"wc if correctly installed and maintained.

1"wc is well within the normal swings of barometric pressure due to local weather conditions.

The tank is designed for 10"WC and the set pressure is 8" WC.

If this is a pallet loaded type relief valve it takes 100% over pressure before the valve lifts full.

Unless the valve is grossly oversized the valve may not reach the full capacity required if this is weigh loaded device
