Could someone please explain proportional and reset? I've pulled it up
on google and look at the information but would like to have it explain
from someone in this forum. Thank you very much.
The information that you give with your request is not very informative.
Are you talking about process control? In a PID control scheme, the P stands for Proportional, the I stands for Integral (also referred to as RESET), and the D stands for Derivative.
Is this what you are referring to?

Look for 3-term control in the better on-line encyclopediae, or speak to a mentor in control & instrumentation locally. In the simplest of terms:
Proportional action is, literally, an output that is proportional to the error signal
Reset action is related to the integral of the error over time, divided by the integral time setting.
where the error signal is the setpoint minus the measured value.
