Firefox; change back to former.

08/30/2008 9:34 AM

Good morning, I recently had a remote operator go into my operating system to resolve a problem I was having. The problem was resolved, but she left the Firefox operating system on my computer. How can I go back to my old system? Thx.

I think you mean that she had set Firefox to be the default browser instead of Internet Explorer (IE).

If she didn't delete IE, find it on your desktop and right click on it. Select Properties and then select the Program tab.

At the Default web browser, click on the Make default. This will cause Internet Explorer to be your default browser.

I tried Firefox for a couple of months but reverted back to IE. It's so much slower when I'm in CR4 and I don't like that .

Learn to use Firefox. It is much better, quicker and safer than IE ever was......

KEEP IT! USE IT!

Its so similar you should have no problems at all.

By the way, its only a web browser, not your system!!!

Hi Andy,

I tried Firefox for a couple of months but reverted back to IE. It takes a long time to load CR4, loading one frame at a time, it seems. cnpower's thread "Idyllic Photos from CR4ers" was a major pain! The pictures were great but took forever to load.

I tried tweeking by myself as well as researching in their website for tips and tricks but nothing helped.

So, my situation now is, I use IE for CR4 and Firefox for everything else.

Regards,

Vulcan

I suspect the problem is the one I am looking at right now, a long string of CR4 tabs which are stacked up one after the other as we work our way through all the issues.

I in fact wiped those about an hour ago and until I stacked up a bunch of new tabs the system was faster. Seems to me that if we turned off the tab system the machine would not slow down.

Now all I gotta do is figure out how to turn it off.

Earlier I was also using IE and felt it's good. But after switching over to Firefox six months back and with constant updates, I felt it's a good change over IE as FF is instant, simple, faster and saves time. Now I made Firefox as a default browser and IE as a standby.

You are SO right.

Firefox has improved dramatically, even in the last few months. I have recently (in the last week) had a major update and I find it far faster than build 7 of IE.....

I only use IE for microsoft updates, nothing else......even CR4 is better with Firefox, in fact I am using it as I write this!!

I also prefer Firefox. I started using it over a year ago, and have never regretted switching. Firefox seems much faster to me, and I hear that it has less security holes that Internet Explorer. And I like the fact that Firefox incorporates the Google search engine instead of the second-rate serach engine that IE uses.

No, I typically use only one tab except when I open a link, which opens in another tab or another window altogether (depends on where I want it). I usually only have one website open, not multiple sites.

So far the problem seems to show only when I'm in CR4. I get the top portion first. Then the main viewing frame (where all the posts are). This one occupies the entire window until the right navigation frame comes up which can take up to a minute to appear. If I don't wait for everything to load and start clicking the link to the newest posts, the thing starts all over again. It's driving me crazy!

I probably haven't tried everything yet so I'll still be trying a couple more tweeks. If I can get CR4 to load faster, I can forget about IE then.

I agree with Mr. Andy and feel you can make an attempt with Firefox for a change. I am completely at home with Ff and using it at all the places and also in CR4 for the last 4 month or so. Yes, It is simple and faster than IE in CR4.

I found firefox to be a piece of garbage. It opened me up to literaly hundreds of attacks by spyware and adware. Lose it. When using IE, I typically scan for malware about once/week and usually find 3 or 4 instances. When i tried the great all powerfull firetrash, I suddenly would find 100 or more. No thanks.
