Can diesel be used for hydrostatic testing? Test pressures around 25-40 barg. Excluding corrosion resistance v's demin water. Are there any distinct disadvantages?

Diesel could be used for hydrotest especially on cold season to avoid water freezing.

Hello "Guest",

Yes, a product with an oily film on the surface.

Add that to the earlier comments.

Kind Regards....

It's safe enough, in principle, though be prepared for major clean-up effort in the event of a leak. Water, in comparison, will drain harmlessly away or evaporate, with little adverse effect on groundwater, local flora and fauna. Diesel would be rather different!
