You are correct. Here are a couple examples;

A- Small ener-pack (powerpack) is powered by either air, electric, or gas engine and powers hydraulic cylinders and tools of differnt sizes.

B- Power packs generaly used on a drilling rig range from 4 cylinder Detroit Diesel to 3516 Caterpillar engine driven units but do basicaly the same thing, powering large hydraulic drilling equipment. They are very easy to simply change out with another unit when a failure occurs rather than suffering down time repairing a stationary unit.

Hi,

As has been confirmed, a hydraulic power pack is one complete self contained unit with a prime mover driving a pump, and all the related component parts mounted on a skid or the oil reservoir. This package will be remote from the item(s) that it is to be used to drive, e.g. cylinders (rams), motors, rotary / semi rotary actuators being the usual driven items. The prime mover may be an electric motor, diesel or petrol engine.

The most basic form of a power pack however, is a hand pump with yourself being the prime mover.
