Tokyo generator set

09/17/2008 8:31 AM

Hi everybody, For sometimes, at Ritchie's auction site, we see Generator set (24- + KVA) sold between 1 000 and 4 000 $. I can't find any informations related to that company or brand name. I am looking to buy a skid generator to run my 30x40 garage, and the 24 seems to be a good deal. But I can't find any documentation, output voltage, power etc, etc. Is it too big for my needs, Lighting, heating, machine shop engine used by one person few hours a day. here is a link to the Ritchie site in Montreal http://www.rbauction.com/equipment_search/equipment_results.jsp?auction_id=2008254&industry_id=11&class_cd=GEN&vc_make=TOKYOGEN&Search_type=Other

For that price you cant go wrong as long as the hz is correct for your area. I had a similar unit powering my place as a stand by for a while, but it was only 15 KVA.

You'll find it to be a 4 cycle engine that is not affected too bad by light loads as is a 2 cycle (EMD for example).

Go for it

I would be concerned about the lack of information. I did a quick search on google and everything I checked redirected back to Ritchie's site.

You need to know what is the voltage, single or three phase, is the 24KVA continuous or intermittent.

A $1000 generator is not a good purchase if it doesn't meet your needs.

That's sure I will. I also found this site, http://www.made-in-china.com/productdirectory.do?subaction=hunt&mode=and&style=b&word=SILENT+GENERATOR+SET&=%2Fproductdirectory.do&comProvince=nolimit&code=0&x=15&y=7 I was astonished to see that all those big products are made there now. Not only tractors and pupets, but all the bif things are made there.

For example, the absolute toughest forklift I have ever seen was a HELI (made in China). All the people at the yard operated it, most of them made me cringe everytime they climbed on thew machine. But that thing ran day in, day out and to the best of my knowladge still is running...
