firewire camera for machine vision

09/18/2008 3:58 AM

In our research project, we will develop cognitive machine vision on a rover robot. Specific necessities about firewire cam as follows:

  1. IEEE 1394 a/b DCAM. Compatible with MATLAB software and Linux(definitely ubuntu hardy 8.04, prefer has own linux driver)
  2. *CCD sensor ( 1lens & color) should be greater than 2/3" (could capture eg. a door in a room environment) resolution:640x480, output:Digital, auto synchronization, autofocus

Optional necessities:

  1. *has programmable DSP chip(prefer TI's Da Vinci)
  2. *pan/tilt base(controllable from cam SW)

This site could be give you an idea about this tech

Firms that we find most adjacent to our needs:

  1. The Imaging Source
  2. Allied Vision Tech

Your suggestions are important for us.

What are you on earth wanting?

almost digital camera has firewire interface(1394) nd has sampling sorftware which can be proceeded further more by matlab. you can buy this camear easily on the market. how many pixeles do you want ?

you want one lens, in fact ther is no more than 1 lens on the market, unless you make a stereo camera.

how many ccd do you wnt? 3 or single? if single ccd, you have to buy a space filter for color display.

almost standard size is 2/3" for professional use. but you only need 640x480 dots.

how much view field depends on your lens, focus, not ccd chip size.

if you hope auto, you can buy electric dynastic lens. I guess you ask, what kind of this lens to buy? I suggest you buy a standard 35mm. enough for your use.

you can use you pc for digital processing or use Da vinci chip for your independent system. or other dsp chiip cx64 series.

I cannt open your " this site" I dont what it is.

Get cool man ;)

Matlab image acq. Tool already explained the fact when i said compatible with matlab, i mention that ... whatever

there are cameras which have 1,2,3 and 6 lens(es) we want 1(i think its clear), no stereo !(actually we will state stereo vision with 2 cameras because of the ligthing effect )

tech lessons continued. CCD & 3CCD are different technologies. For colo(u)r view, CCD has 3 colour pixes RGB(actually RGGB) at 4x4 pixel area. CCD3 tech uses dichroic beam splitter mechanism to seperate the light to RGB which are collected with 3 distinct CCDs. We want old tech: Only CCD(color not monochrome).

There is a typho error you got it :) we desire 1/3"(640x480) its enough. But we are thinking for 1/3"(1024x768) and 2/3"(1280x1024)

there are firewire cams that have programmable DSP chips. And the systematic of project will be simply:

camera------Matlab-----own specific program

matlab will be used for test process.after tests

camera------own specific program

what will do matlab's job after tests? Own specific image acq progtram or embedded codes in the cameras dsp. We prefer DSP do that and the program only deals with its job with raw input from camera ;)

As i explain it will be used for research project not for electronic hobby.

Link must be open. Check temper(it have to be ~ 36.7) i'm joking :)

or look:

ps: it is a funny coding break. Thanks.

6 lenses? you must make a kidding? I hvnt seen so mny lenses for a camera, I saw only the no more than 3 lenses on a movies camera.

oh, I gusess you mean a goup of glasses in a lens, which can be up to 6, 9, 12, 24 goups to get more quality picture. even 12 group zoom lense is very expensive. it can buy a big cartin of DV. haha.

the ccd sensor are all the same, only the single ccd has a coating film on it as a space filter, whick make up of a pixel with 3 or 4 dots. usually 4 arrange. your comprehence is right at 3 ccd config.

most of dsp intigrate a ram, flash etc, in it cn store program. every dsp needs programming to implement a function.

I can image your routine. use camera as a sampler to get image into digital signal and dsp processing,

you can use matlab to reduce your porgramming work. it can be change into c and then firm into flash to inpendent use.

matlab ha enough toolbox for image processing and simulation dsp toolbox.

I still cannt open the site, but I can guess what it is. in fact you can find lots of such camera for industry use.

oh, develop kits, so you neednt make pcb by yourself. but write a program.
