POLYETHYLENE COATING FOR SUBMARINE PIPES

09/19/2008 8:50 PM

Would you please any one can help for selecting the coating for submarine pipes.

I have two choices between HDPE & MDPE from the coating Company, and I would like to be sure which one is the best.

I knew that MDPE is better with the resistance of cracking, but can I use in marine pipes.

The advantage and disadvantage of the MDPE & HDPE.

any can help me and send to me DIN 30670 standard.

San Diego Plastics at www.sdplastics.com should help you decide. Good luck.

HDPE any time. Because HDPE:

Flows/covers all over.

Is not Brittle.

Do not age -harden

I am not sure this is applicable to coatings, but I know of an installation of HDPE submarine pipe- actually two pipes, one transporting diesel fuel, the other potable water, both of which have been installed for over twenty years, both crossing the surf line, and neither evidencing the slightest indication of potential failure...

If it is going to be a coating or lining, LLDPE is the best as it has much better crack and chemical resistance.
