HOW TO DESIGN A PULSE WIDTH MODULATED , MOSFET DRIVEN 12 V ALTERNATOR REGULATOR USING IC OR DISCRETE PARTS TO BE INSTALLED TO A CUTOUT TYPE REGULATED ALTERNATOR.?

To get better answers, you need better questions. What voltage? What amperage? And why can't you just use a DC voltage signal like the rest of the world does?

Maybe you should read before you write... A 12 V alternator probably works on 12 V...

Get on GOOGLE and look up "pwm voltage regulator ic"

You should get various hits for IC's and maybe circuits too.

If you get a chance, get a book that deals with the subject of PWM power supplies.

The V-sensing for your circuit will come from a voltage divider across the output post and the case of the Alternator, the MOSFET drive will control the field of the Alternator.

Apart from that, the circuit is VERY simple these days, with a single 8-pin DIP IC doing the control with a couple of components around it, including a input to control the switching of the output ON-OFF, I used this for a driving light regulator for "LightFORCE" spotlights that are getting common on 4WD's

If you manage to get what you want working, do remember that sensitive electronics like your car radio, cd player and the engines motor management system (a small computer nowadays) will all probably either stop working or will not work correctly.......so a lot of extra filtering will be needed to be added to shield such units from the "noise" of the PWM......

By the way, this is why car manufacturers do NOT use PWMs very often in their designs!!

Actually, there are many ECU designs that are running PWM, interior lights, instrument cluster illumination.

In-car communications is all via CAN bus (implemented by Bosch) some installations (IVECO) are running 4 seperate CAN BUS networks, the VW runs CAN into the doors for the door lockers/actuators

PWM is also used in your Brake/Tail lights too

Those that I mention above are utilised in installations from Bosch, Hella, Ford, Mitsubishi.... or most modern cars.
