Paralleling Inverter Power Sources

09/23/2008 1:16 PM

Honda has a great package where they can connect (2) 2 or 3 kW generators to operate in parallel. These are identified by Honda as "inverter" generators.

We are developing mobile power supplies that will convert DC to AC and desire the ability to gang the units, or; operate multiple (at a minimum 2 units) to produce a single high-quality, in-phase, AC power output.

Has anyone heard of, and can anyone help me locate, off-the-shelf technology to affect interconnected, parallel operation of inverter power supplies?

There are several brands of inverters that can be connected in parallel. One of the best units on the market is Xantrex (old Trace) Look on thier web for more info.

How many KW do you need?

We make them from 50KW up to 2MW using IGBT technology.

They are bi-directional units. The power can flow in any direction at unity power factor and low harmonics levels.

We can also control the power factor from almost zero leading (capacitive) to zero lagging (inductive) and inject specific harmonics if you want to test electrical equipment.

We can combine multiple non-synchronised sources to one output. That even includes DC batteries. Windmill, solar, generators combined all together to the same electrical feeder.

Water cooled, air cooled, etc...

The product exist. Just drop me a line.

Dear Sir

I have many queries on parallel operation of inverters with respect to solar panels.Kindly let me have your email id so that I can communicate with you.We are contemplating to have 4 x 250 kW solar systems to operate in parallel and again 5 of such system to feed to utility grid for evacuation of power.

I am designing to suitable switchgear for the system and I have to design suitable protective system also.

I hope you will help me in this regard

Outback is an excellent inverter pure sine wave but very expensive. But it does have a lot of monitoring functions.
