Survey for Engineering Class

09/25/2008 2:01 PM

Hello, I am currently taking an engineering class and am in my senior year of high school. I, along with two other students, am designing a device to quickly and easily open and close house windows. In order to do so, we need to know which type(s) of windows are most common in people's homes. I have provided a link where our survey (only 4 questions) can be accessed and my group; I would greatly appreciate any feedback that you can give us.

Note: The first two questions are the most important. The attached thread is the same question so feel free to answer on either forum.

Thank you for all your help!

Welcome to CR4

As for your questions,

1. Casement

2. Single

3. No

4. It would not benefit me because I can open/close them myself in under a minute but, I do like the idea!

Good luck with your studies.

Truman

1) Double hung and sliding

2) single pane glass, but double windows - i.e., there is an inner and an outer window that are opened separately.

3) not really - the windows in Houston stay closed most of the year

4) It would be nice, I suppose, but what I'd really like is remote controlled hurricane shutters.

Please clarify Q2 - are you asking about single/double glazing, or single/double casement (for example)? My A2 indicates single casement, but the window is double glazed.

Got me thinking now about Q2! I'm double casement, single glazed!

To clarify, Q2 refers to whether the majority of your windows are single or double pane glass (i.e. single/double glazed)
