Did you mean Gantt (project schedule) chart? I can't find any results for Ghatt, but there are plenty of google hits for Gantt -give it a try.

Hello Randouli:

hope you are well.................................

I have not used Microsoft Project before.............When it comes down to it, some people will choose one apps and other people with choose another?

The ease of use has a lot to do with the choice, you know?

Take care.........

The software used by most professional planner/schedulers is Primavera Project Planner, P3, for short.

They have a full version for about $3,000 and a short version for about $300.

The next best is MS Project Professional followed by MS Project.

Several free scheduling software packages are available but I have no experience with them. I have used the first two and they do the job very well. P3 is the top of the line and MS Project handles most jobs adequately.

MS Project. Works well, price competitive, good overall combination.

Great answer! I'll check out the links........

I've always went with Excel for quick or simple charts or if I want to customize my own from scratch (which is usually the case, formulas rule).

MS Project is a great tool but I've only used it on large projects for continuity purposes like when corporate managers or large contractors were using it.

I guess I wanted to look cool too................

I too have used Microsoft Project for a fairly simple project to remove an obsolete linear accelerator, refurbish the room install an extra 100kW, and install and commission the new machine. The major requirement was to program each of the trades teams with deliveries of equipment whilst not disturbing 2 adjacent linacs which were treating patients. I found it easy to use having had 2 afternoon training sessions

I got my copy of the Microsoft Project as a trial (slightly limited functionality) with a text book "Project Management" which was an excellent guide to starting the use of the software. The textbbook is at work, but if you want the details like ISBN, post an answer to this post requesting them and I will supply them.

Please post the ISBN when you get a chance - I have MS Project (included in a big bundle of Office stuff).

I don't need to use much (if any) of it at present, but a guide (for when I need it) would be good to know about.

Thanks in advance.

Hello ebryant817:

Did you realise there is two threads running on the Gantt chart software?

This one asks for "ghatt". And the other asks for "gantt". But they are asking for the same thing. It is misspelled here.

Re: ghatt chart

This is a chart that is used to convince management that you have a hand on the project. It is reviewed daily by a group of twelve or so people while the techs and floor people are getting the job done. It must be flexable because you'll never meet the dates changed by your boss to new dates so that he can look good to his boss. These dates are destine to failure also because you were extreemely agressive on your dates before he trimmed two months off. The project won't be finished on time or on budget so write what ever you want in it because someone else is stealing your AR money you worked so hard to get. Assign it to an already overloaded staff and berate them because they couldn't get it done even though they are there twelve seven. Welcome to the new age. I'd forgotten how much fun it was. Thanks for asking about the chart.
