You can interview me for your Project "Learn to Spell" class, if you like. I can even tell you how to never again miss the spelling of your own school's name! You'll also be able to tell your classmates how mispelling so many words, or even one word, on a resume or job application could make the difference in getting an interview or not. So, just give the word...will be glad to help.

Hello thesmartguy92

There are two potential problems with your above Question.

  1. The Question as asked is a "Class or Homework Question", which is not allowed under Site policy. Any "Educational" type Topic should really be in the http://cr4.globalspec.com/section/education Subforum.
  2. The Question as asked, may be a Fishing exercise for details of a Member or Members here, and the information gathered may later be shared to a Database. That Database may be used as a Database, or for Identity theft.

You would really be better to contact a local Electrical Engineer, and ask for an interview with that person.

Of course, the details you require with your above question would probably alert most Engineers, who would be aware of "Identity theft", which has become much more prevalent over the last ten years or more.

Accordingly I have advised Admin.

Kind Regards....

There is something to be said, however, for application of discretion before being hasty in calling in the policy wonks. For one, there is nothing in evidence to indicate they are in any better position to judge. For another - and this had already proven to be the case before you posted - most members are capable of recognizing a lame attempt when they see one, and responding accordingly. Thus we have seen the derision with which smartguy's post was received - we have also seen that he has not again posted in response...which can, at best, be seen as an indication that the rebukes have been taken to heart.

There's also the idea...that it's in the better interest of all that a certain amount of latitude be given before jumping to conclusions about what is and what is not a "homework" question; that is, a blatant attempt to shirk a short term assignment. In the case at hand, smartguy's post, for the most part, merely reflects a lame attempt to solicit some engineer who might accept an interview. The lame part came not in asking for an interview, but simply by the act of posting interview questions...and by not understanding what his project was intended to be: an actual interview...not a chat on a bulletin board...or the filling out of a form by an anonymous person purporting as an engineer. (Who among us did not realize that an attempt to pass of a fake interview was in the offing, and respond accordingly?) I believe that, taken together, Mr. Smartguy have early on realized that the dishonesty of his interview approach did not go undetected.

Such will typically be the case, I believe, without the need of intervention. By the same token, though, a hair trigger for censorship introduces the risk of censoring good, informative posts in addition to a supposed offensive post.

Let dumb questions die natural deaths, lest not so dumb answers die unnatural deaths!

Hello "Guest",

Your Post information has already been noted.

Perhaps you didn't see the almost identical Topic: http://cr4.globalspec.com/thread/27354/hello-i-need-to-interview-an-Electrical-engineer

That was the reason I Posted as I did above, in both Topics, and Reported the Topics to Admin after each reply Post was made.

There are some who might think that both the Topic Starter Members (New Members) were genuine, and that is the reason I took the action I did.

Now, since you are such a helpful sort of person, why not Register at with your Location and Country, so that the Admin know who you are.

The Members along with other "Guests" and Guests will then perhaps take more note of your Postings.

After all, for all anyone knows, you could be the original Topic Starter, for one or both Topics, signing in as "Guest".

Kind Regards....

Thank you Sparkstation for the acknowledgment of my (neutral) points, and for the update link. Having seen the prior post which somehow (probably deliberately) I previously overlooked, I am forced to now agree that Admin needed to be advised of what (like me) they apparently overlooked.

In addition, the clear indication of deceit and/or conspiracy to deceive is cause enough to report. This Passaic/Passiac school would do well to teach its students the legitimate use of the internet; and that interviews are not an appropriate use...if in fact that school exists or that individual or team of individuals are actually students.

Consider it a personal quirk but, because the site affords the capability to post incognito, I sometimes see good reason for doing so...say, I forget to sign-in or am in a rush; or say, to avoid over personalizing an otherwise neutral or intended-to-be innocuous point.

I will again, however, provided a guest-distinguishing sign off.

Considering the matter closed, I thank you for the patience and good will shown in your reply.

So do I provide the same, to distinguish me from other Guests:
