How do you cook a steak?

09/29/2008 12:41 PM

All this talk about onions and potato's is making me hungry. But, after all, they are but side dishes.

I like to start with a nice, thick Rib Eye. I like to cook it over deep hardwood coals. Sometimes I use a rub, or, often BBQ sauce, applied for the last few minutes. Medium rare.

To go along with it, camp fries. Par-boiled potato's, (Reds, with skin on), cut up, with butter and spices, wrapped up in foil, placed directly on the coals. Then fresh corn on the cob, cooked on the grill in the husk.

Top it all off with a cold Bass Ale.

It just doesn't get any better!

Sometimes ours Guests used to ask us: what does CR4 mean?

From recent time I suspect it means Culinari Recipes 4 Hangry Engineers. I'm frightening the forum shall be invaded soon by crowd of chefs.

Bricktop,

I'm stuck at work with nothing but a vending machine full of tinned OJ, snack crackers and some sort of stale gooey honey buns.

I may just have to do you bodily harm for your cruel post there. No court would convict me.

Make mine rare please. Switch to baked sweet potato with butter and switch the corn to asparagus, or stuffed artichokes.

I like to marinate mine in worchestershire sauce with garlic salt, fresh ground black pepper and a bit of Cajun spice.Sometimes I divide a can of beer between the marinade and the chef. Of course, trimmings such as garlic bread with parmiasan cheese, baked potatoe, and asparagus and a bottle of good merlot....mmmmmmm!

What about Dessert???

This is one of my favorite recipes for the holidays!

CHRISTMAS TEQUILA COOKIES

1 cup dark brown sugar
1 cup (two sticks) butter
1 cup granulated sugar
4 large eggs
2 cups dried fruit (dried cranberries or raisins)
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts or pecans
2 cups all purpose flour
1 bottle Jose Cuervo Tequila (silver or gold, as desired)

First, sample the Cuervo to check quality. Take a large bowl. Check the Cuervo to be sure it is of the highest quality. Pour another 4 ounces in a measuring cup and drink. Turn on the electric mixer. Beat one cup of the butter in a large fluffy bowl. Add one teaspoon sugar. Beat again.

At this point, it is best to make sure the Cuervo is still OK. Try another 4 ounces, just in case. Turn off the mixerer thingy. Break two leggs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried fruit, picking the frigging fruit off the floor. Mix on the turner. If the fried druit gets stuck in the beaterers, just pry it loose with a screwdriver.

Sample the Cuervo to check for tonsisticity. Next, sift 2 cups of salt or something. Check the Jose Cuervo. Now shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts. Add one table. Add a spoon of sugar, or somefink. Whatever you can find. Greash the oven. Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over. Don't forget to beat off the turner.

Finally, throw the bowl through the window, finish the Cose Juervo and make sure to put the stove in the dishwasher.

Cherry Mistmas.

Hardwood coals are the best, I couldn't agree more. It is all that I use on my USDA Prime Steaks
