Wheel mark on Instruments for ships

10/18/2008 12:51 AM

We are supplying portable instruments to the Marine Industry.

Recently, an Engineering Superintendent asks for the Wheel mark on the equipment. We have the Certificate for EMC (Electro-Magnetic Compatibility) which is immune to radio interferrence and does not interfere with external devices or emits Electro-Magnetic field.

However, we are not aware of the wheel mark. Can anyone who is familiar with this, tell us what is this wheel mark, how to apply and obtain it and who issues the Classification for the wheel mark approvals?

Thanks and we will be glad to hear from you.

Basically the marine version of a CE mark. This might help.

You might contact DNV for help in getting this approval..

Thank you.

We have CE Mark, can this be endorsed by the Classification Society for the Wheel Mark?

I did a Google Image search for wheel mark and found this page

http://tinyurl.com/6b37su

It says Rikett Marine has been awarded both 'EC' and 'QS' type certificates carrying the steering wheel mark of conformity. This mark is the marine equivalent of CE marking."

I'd contact your local Lloyds Register or DNV office and ask about QS Type Approval
