Easiest way is to use an impulse relay, such as the Type 711 from Magnecraft, which changes state (toggles) at each "press of the button" (i.e. each time it is energized).

There are many latching relays available, from miniature PCB types to large panel mounting, depending on your voltage & current requirements.

I'll leave it to you to search further.

Edit: But why not use a latching pushbutton switch (push-on, push-off)?

Please offer a little more information so the proper answer can be given for your particular application.

The type of control will be largely dictated by the size, voltage, and application of the motor being switched on and off.

At any rate its easily done, but there are considerations to be taken. For instance if it is a tiny fractional HP motor, it may be done with only a good relay. But if there is considerably more current coming into play than we will be looking at a Magnetic Starter possibly controlled by the fore mentioned.

Just skip all the complications, use a push - push switch in series with the relay. -- JHF

Why not change the pushbutton actuator into a switch actuator?

Is astonishing to see and read posts like this of people studying some type of engineering degree, and realize that they don't even know how to write.

I wonder how these people make it all the way thru college with that gramar??? No wonder real jobs are going to India, China and other countries.

Hi,

The simple solution is to use a latch type push button or emergengency kind of mushroom type push buttons where u could you able to start and stop the motor.
