Mystery Lever Connector

10/22/2008 8:51 AM

Can anyone help me identify this lever type terminal block? It's about 2.25" 1.125" with 4 pairs of lever terminals on 0.5" centres (similar to Hi-Fi loudspeaker connectors). There is a mark on the base saying 'CHIC' but I have been unable to track down the maker. I need to find an exact replacement as it needs to fit with a housing & PCB. This one as you might be able to see is a little melted.

Try googling "spring clips" and "push terminals".

I've been trying every combination I can think of & have found lots of single sided connectors but no double row ones.

Search for "speaker terminal". You will find these This is not an exact match, but it should get you going in the right direction. Try Newark, Allied, Grainger, Mouser.......

If it's any help, I think the manufacturer may be "Chic Technology Co." out of Taiwan. I have no contact info for them. (Edit: After doing more snooping, I'm now much less confident this is the correct manufactuer.)

You might try searching using the term "speaker terminals".

Although I saw maybe a half-dozen terminals along the line of what you're looking for, on close examination almost all looked more similar to the one techno found.

Unfortunately their nearest branch seems to be a few thousand miles away.

Thanks to everyone for the comments. The damaged connector was from a firework control unit which had some burning material fall on it at our annual Hastings Day celebration. There's a video of the event here but it does not really convey the true impact of the event.

Nice video, thanks! Could swear I saw a Pict or two in that opening parade sequence - or was that just the non-fancy dress that fooled me?

You may have seen them, I know one of the bonfire societies dress in an ancient highland style but generally it tends to be a mishmash of what's available in the local charity shops.

The guys I saw looked like they had just recently painted themselves blue when they climbed out of the bogs...

There's a better video of the parade here, it's best watched full screen. Unfortunately it doesn't cover the fireworks properly. The effigy at the end represents plans to build a futuristic new art gallery in the historic 'old town' & resulted in our first ever protest the next day when a group of about 30 artists gathered on the site.

Nice try but none of them are the 8 way that I need. Techno got it right in his post & we have found a UK agent for the items. Thanks to everyone, I'm not sure I would have found it on my own.
