ash hopper

10/29/2008 12:01 AM

I am working with a boiler (coal fired, Chain grate stoker type). We are disposing the ash in clinker form , this clinker is stored in hopper ,then after some duration this is released from hopper.

Problem is that during this duration clinker gets sticked in hopper and we have to hammer on sides of hopper to remove sticked ash clincker, is there any solution for this problem .

please give me solution.

thanks

Hello Guest,

Clinker by its very nature is "sticky" when hot.

Try spraying water in a fine spray around the inside of the hopper, or before the clinker ash enters the hopper, so the clinker is quickly cooled.

This will lead you to a new problem: How to get rid of that contaminated water, and the sulphurous smell, without polluting the neighbourhood.

Kind Regards....
