Most pay the extra cost for Glyerin Filled gauges since they think they last longer than the ones without the dampening effect of the oil.

I recommend and specify on any circut I design that all gauges have a Push to Read 3-way valve between the gauge and the pressure source. They are called Gauge Isolators and are sold by most Fluid Power distributors. Most have a Twist to Lock Open feature that I don't like since they usually get Pushed and Twisted and stay that way and now makes the Isoator an expensive piece of PLUMBING.

That means the gauge is never under pressure unless someone is holding the Push to Read Button and the Gauge reads correctly for the life of the machine unless itis physically damaged or ocver pressured.

I also use a non filled gauge since it responds faster and makes reading pressure spikes a lot closer to the actual spike pressure.

hi dear

we can use push to Read valve its ok. but what if the system is under continuous vibration then isn't it necessary to use oil filled guages for damping? please comment

Another way to cushion the gauge is to use a snubber -a tiny hole in a blanking plate in the line to the gauge that cushions the gauge against pressure fluctuations and helps it to read, steadily, the time-weighted average pressure.

Local practices and company piping standards vary.

Never had that situation. I would think the least problem would be with Gauges in that case.

I believe if Gauges were being damaged by vibration I would be using Quick Disconnects with Protective Covers and use a Gauge from my Tool Box to check pressure. Pressure Transducers with Feedback to the PLC would also work.

Use a remotely mounted gauge mounted on a non vibrating stand or surface.
