Water Filters

11/06/2008 1:02 PM

I have used Brita and PUR water filters in my kitchen, but I wonder if all faucets bathrooms faucets included, are fitted with threading to accept an adaptor?

Yes, but if your water is that unbearable in all faucets. I think a whole house water filter would do you better. It also helps preserve appliances.

Thanks for your response. I am new to Florida and the sodium oder in the water takes some getting use to, drinking and bathing. So all in home and commercial (hotel, resturants) have threading.

FYI, Sodium ions in water do not have an odor, and a certain amount actually makes water more palatable. What you frequently smell are organic compounds, sulfide and thiol compounds, chlorinated compounds, ammonia and related compounds. I sould suggest a treatment system installed at the main lin into the house rather than individual systems at each tap, it will cost less and waste less disposable plastic components (lowering your environmental footprint).

We have used a PUR filter for years, but a few months back I replaced the bathroom sink and Kitchen Faucet. Neither one of the new ones have any threading or any way to attach a filter to them. I thought they all did and was not looking at that feature when I (Wife) selected which new faucets to buy. We actually ran into worse problems than that and ended up returning one of the faucets that we really liked cause it just wouldn't work in our old house. (Non-standard plumbing).

Not sure where you're located but as far as I know, most bath fixtures still can remove the nozzle for cleaning the screens etc. You usually have to put a towel over the nozzle and turn gently to remove.
