Is the U.K. 42mm dia. bath waste plug a universal fit?

Is the proposed product strictly for bath tubs?

US standard drain sizes for residential sinks, lavatories, and tubs are usually 1-1/4" and 1-1/2" (32mm and 38mm, plus or minus), sometimes 2" (51mm). Toilets will normally be 3" (77mm). These are NOMINAL dimensions, you will need to refer to product catalog information for actual data.

Note that there are a variety of "stopper" systems beside the rubber waste plug. Lift-up waste plugs are fairly popular in US and may inhibit the use of your plug.

No not limited to bath tubs but they usually have the volume of water worth moving.Bath tubs also have a web at the bottom (usually six tapering holes and similar to the segments of an orange)of the UK plug waste enables the device to lock in.

UK plugs are 42mm at the top just under 12mm deep and taper from top to bottom.

as long as you use a standard drain kit with a standard bath the plug is 42mm.

This may alter slightly for different bath type and sizes, but, I have only dealt with a normal 'lay-down' type bath which has a 42mm plug.

Can you let us have more details of your product when you are ready?

In Australia, I have 2 baths and 2 vanity basins using 32mm, 1 laundry tub and 4 sink basins using 51mm.

Nothing here seems to use 42mm.

Of course, compared to Europe or US, Australia is a small market, so what we use may not be relevant to your work.

Thanks very much.The patent could be adapted for your bath plugs but I understand that you are pretty clued up when it comes to recycling.Water shortages here are a fairly recent climate feature.

Water shortages are NOT a "recent climate feature." They are a recurring feature in various parts of the world, and more noticable where people try to live in large groups. Especially if the group is larger than the local climate can sustain.

Midwestern US, where I grew up has recorded droughts of various degrees in the 1910s, 1930s (severe), and late 1950s-early 1960s, and currently the area is coming off of a surplus of water to maybe another dry spell.

In addition to the annual seasonal variations in climate, there appear to be 20-30 cycles, and 500 year cycles that we do not know enough about to understand and explain. (yet)

I did see your website, and your water-recycler does appear to be a clever low tech device to "use the water twice". I wish you success and appreciate your researching CR4 to expand your market. Your product has merit as water shortages begin to affect more crowded areas of our planet.

I appreciate your comments and corrections,I deliberately kept it low tech not just for production reasons but also because this also has cost implications and I am keen to make this a product which can be bought and used by all 'folk' and to have an impact,unfortunately my enthusiasm does not seem to have been recognised by any water authorities or governments which would allow real market penetration and consequently any impact on this simple recycling area.
