protection failure....

a thundering evening our transformer failed to supply and feed loads, on investigation it is found that fuses of transformer are blown and unfortunately the fault propagated into the loads side instead of the external circuit breaker and internal equipments fuses and circuit breakers and grounding/earthiing protections. this event is repeated.....plz help me .....what should i do, not to face it ever in future....thanks .....

Please explain your system once again to understand still better.i.e transformer connections, voltage levels,protection schemes etc.

Please check up weather you have installed Surge arrester of proper rated voltage for the system. If yes check up weather it is functioning ( If it is non functional replace it) Also ensure that earthing system for the same is proper. If not installed install it immediately to avoid similar damage due to lightening in future.
