Is anyone familiar with a type of piezometer that drives an indicator tube (like a sightglass) to indicate liquid level inside a tank??

No, though there are some excellent magnetic follower instruments on the market that will do the job. Try Able Instruments and KSR Kuebler (usual disclaimer) for starters.
