11/19/2008 11:03 PM

Dear Members,

i have one vessel with full skirt and one more with open half skirt to be weld on the platform at elevation + 33500, with wind pressure 88.8650kgs/m2 and weight around 5700kg. Anybody have an idea to calculate the weld size at the basering for these 2 vessel and appreciated if someone can send a softcopy(Excel file) or whatever to study.

Thank you.

I'd be glad to help you, but to accomplish it I'd like first to see a drawing with vessels and platform geometry, and also the required weld position and support elements. It will depend not only the loads, but also weld position and base metal. I can help you to find a good start based on AISC and AWS specifications, but post some sketch or send me an email with it so I can give you an idea of what will be.

HOWEVER - CAUTION:

Well, in advance, you'll need to observe at least one of the following specs, depending on your installation country: AISC, AWS D1.1, ASME Sec. III and sec. IX.

Watch out. It is not so simple as it may seem. Certified people for design and construction is required.
