Getting Frustrated

11/25/2008 6:36 PM

Why is the writing so bad? Why is the spelling so poor? Troubleshooting ANYTHING requires attention to detail ! What are the chances of this happening?

Most of my day is wasted....I end up doing people's jobs for them, finding that almost always, the problem is not solved nor often even addressed. These are members of a group that, in the best case , are "parts changers" and every once in a while, in the worst case, kill people. Reference such jewels as the Tacoma Narrows bridge collapse.

Sounds like you and I have a lot in common. I had to take a second look at who posted your thread...I thought it was me venting. I swear I exist for the sole purpose of cleaning up other peoples sh**. Does anybody really do their job anymore? Make a buck...don't give a %$#! is the way of the world I guess.

Sorry, but you got me going!

A parts changer will get it right sooner or later. There is only so many parts to replace.

Ever think that its what you get paid for. Some one has to take the responsibility to see its done right.

These people you are complaining about other then vent have you ever tried to teach. You will find some motivational instruction will go a lot farther than blowing up over every mishap. Will also be health benefit to you. Less stress.

Can't read their minds so you don't know if they have the talent and have never been taught.

Can you do any thing to change the situation if not don't worry its out of your hands.

I live by the philosophy you suggested. A long time ago I came to the conclusion that teaching was much more constructive than complaining. It's very rewarding when you find someone who is actually willing to learn - but they are so rare. This is where frustration can build to new level. It's bad enough when someone is lazy...it's much worse when they don't give a damn.

As far as not worrying about things that are out of your control, it's not as black and white as that. If you are doing a job that you love in a place that you otherwise enjoy working, then it's not easy being the 'go to' guy' when everybody else is incompetent yet not held responsible. Being forced to consider finding another job because of this type of atmosphere is not only not fare but probably futile because any new job more often than not will turn out to be the 'same old-same old'.
